Lucas H. Scanlon has served on the CFISD Board of Trustees since 2021 and was elected to his first term in November 2021. A 16-year resident of CFISD, Mr. Scanlon resides in the Towne Lake subdivision with his wife, Bethany, and daughter, Jonah.
Mr. Scanlon is a director of business transformation and strategy, advising clients on culture, process and technology to drive strong engagement and business outcomes. He previously worked as a band director at Mayde Creek Junior High in Katy. He has volunteered at Rennell Elementary as a Watch DOG dad. He has taught as a FinTech adjunct professor for Rice University and Northwestern University since 2019.

- University of Houston (UH), Bachelor of Music Education (1991)
- Percussionist – Taught privately and in group clinics at local junior and high schools across the Houston region from 1992 – 1998. Schools included Sam Rayburn High School (3 years), Klein High School (1 year), Alief High School (3 years), Clear Lake High School (1 year), and League City Intermediate.
- Studied under Eddie Green, who set the bar for music education and trained many of the instructors that made Texas bands what they are today. Across CFISD, former students of Mr. Green can be found leading our bands to great outcomes and student success. Mr. Green prioritized the individual student and pioneered band pedagogy with impressive results.
- Student Teacher at Westfield High School under Phillip Geiger, a premier teacher with a nationally-acclaimed powerhouse band program. Mr. Scanlon specifically chose to complete his student teaching under the guidance of Mr. Geiger.

- Studied privately for two years with the Principal Percussionist for the Houston Symphony to increase performance skills and techniques.
- Performed on Snare Line with Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps (’92) and Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps (’93-’94). At Blue Knights, studied under Ralph Hardimon, Glen Crosby, Rick Rodriguez and Ben Maughmer.
- Rice University, Master of Music Performance – Percussionist (1998)
- Studied with Richard Brown and performed with the Rice University Orchestra, a world-renowned program that attracts the top 5% of student performers nationally. Notably, over 40% of the program graduates pursue careers in orchestras and other professional musical settings.
