My daughter will turn 4 years old in mid-October. Can she attend the Pre-K program for the 2025-26 school year?
To be eligible, students must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2025, and cannot be 5 years old on or before this date. Eligibility requirements for the qualifying pre-K program can be found at www.cfisdprek.net. Students who may qualify must meet the age requirements outlined in the provided information. If you believe your child may be eligible for another instructional program, such as ECSE (Early Childhood Special Education), please reach out for assistance.
If my child turns 5 on July 1 but is not ready for Kindergarten and needs to bridge, can we sign up for the tuition-based pre-K?
Children who turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2025, are eligible for admission to the program. However, children who are 5 years old on or before this date do not qualify, as they are age-appropriate for Kindergarten. Currently, we do not offer a bridge option between pre-K and Kindergarten.
Meals
Are meals included or is that separate from tuition? If separate, what is the rate for breakfast & lunch, and would snacks be provided, or would they have to be brought from home?
Students attending a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) campus will receive lunch at no cost. For students at non-CEP campuses, families are responsible for providing lunch and snacks.
Meal prices for the 2025-26 school year have not yet been published, and at this time, we do not have information regarding potential price changes. For the most current pricing and updates, please visit our Nutrition Services webpage.
Regarding lunch, families may choose to send their students with a lunch from home or may participate in the regular meal offerings by our nutrition service team. Individual student accounts may be set up with funds loaded at any time during the year.

Where will the locations be?
This program will be offered at all CFISD elementary campuses on a space-available basis. During the application process, families can select their preferred campuses from the most current list of available locations. However, please note that availability may change, and a selected campus may no longer have space by the time spots are assigned, as placements are offered on a first-come, first-served basis based on the application timestamp. Each pre-K class will include both qualifying pre-K students and those enrolled through the tuition-based option.

Transportation
I am trying to figure out if our best option is for our son to go to his zoned school or if I can see if he can get placed in a pre-K program near my school.
Families will have the opportunity to choose from available campuses, which may include those within their attendance zone as well as other campuses throughout the district. Bus transportation is only provided for students attending their zoned campus that meet eligibility requirements as outlined in the CFISD Transportation Plan; shuttle service from employee work locations to pre-K campuses is not planned at this time.
