Dear CFISD Community:
As we wrap up the 2025 calendar year and look ahead to 2026, I wanted to take some time to reflect on a terrific fall semester in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
Academically, we had 18 seniors confirmed as National Merit semifinalists in September. We launched the CFISD Virtual Pathways program, which will begin enrolling students in the spring. Additionally, Bridgeland HS senior Linley Adams won the 2025-26 Celebrate Texas Public Schools scholarship at the Friends of Texas Public Schools Friend of the Year dinner in November.
In finance, our Board of Trustees adopted the lowest tax rate in 39 years ($1.0669) in October. We also earned a Superior rating in the TEA’s School FIRST program this fall — the 23rd consecutive year for CFISD to be recognized for financial reporting.
In fine and visual arts, the Bridgeland, Cypress Woods and Cy-Fair HS marching bands advanced to the state contest. CFISD was named an Exemplary District of Distinction by the Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA), as well as a Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) District of Distinction for the fifth consecutive year. More than 150 students received superior ratings at the 2025 Texas Thespian Festival in November. Also, Jersey Village HS senior artist Kaila Jackson’s ornament was selected to represent District 138 on the Capitol Christmas Tree. Cy-Fair HS senior Hannah Bockhahn and Cypress Woods HS junior Lance Jehlik marched with the Macy’s Great American Marching Band in the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
In athletics, the Bridgeland HS girls’ cross country team won the first state championship in school history, and the boys’ team placed third. Cypress Woods HS senior runner Laney Barnes placed second overall among individuals! Continuing our success, the Cypress Ranch HS volleyball team advanced to the state semifinals. Additionally, more than 50 athletes signed to colleges and universities during November and December signing days!
Our students have shined in so many ways, and the school year is only halfway over! It’s clear to see why parents Choose the Path to Amazing for their students, from pre-K all the way to high school.
Our winter break begins Friday, Dec. 19, and continues through Friday, Jan. 2. Monday, Jan. 5 will be a student holiday and professional day for staff. I hope you all enjoy a safe and restful holiday break, and cherish your time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday, Jan. 6 as we finish the school year strong!
