Dear CFISD Community:
The 2024-25 school year is in the books! I know it seems like it went by quickly, but I wanted to take some time to highlight the incredible accomplishments that kept CFISD on The Path to Amazing throughout the year.
Today, we began sending off our Class of 2025 graduates at the Berry Center. By the time we conclude our 12 ceremonies on May 31, we will have handed out more than 9,000 diplomas. Congratulations, graduates!

In fine and visual arts, 45 musicians were named to TMEA All-State groups. The Bridgeland, Cypress Woods and Cy-Fair HS marching bands advanced to the state contest. CFISD was named one of the 2025 Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants, and was named an Outstanding District of Distinction by the Texas Educational Theatre Association. The Bridgeland HS One-Act Play, Confederate Letters, was one of eight productions to advance to the UIL One-Act Play State Meet, and ended up coming in fourth place. CFISD was named a 2024 Texas Art Education Association District of Disinction award winner. Two HS art students were top-five finalists in the District 8 and District 38 Congressional Art Contests. Ten music ensembles were named winners of The Foundation of Music Education’s 2024 Mark of Excellence and Citation of Excellence awards. Thirteen high school students won national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

In athletics, track and field athletes won two gold and four silver medals at the state track meet. The Bridgeland HS girls’ cross country team placed second overall, and boys’ runner Benjamin Montgomery placed second individually. CFISD also took home a silver medal at the state wrestling meet, and a gold and silver at the state swim meet. Jersey Village HS senior Daniela Palmeros qualified for her fourth consecutive state golf meet. Cypress Springs HS senior basketball player Ayla McDowell was named a McDonald’s All-American. Five student athletic trainers were named to the TSATA Academic All-State Team.

In career & technical education, student projects generated more than $625,000 at the 31st annual CFISD Livestock Show & Sale. AVP students from Jersey Village HS won first place in the UIL State Film Festival Documentary competition, while Cypress Woods HS won a Gold Distinction in Broadcast Excellence at the National STN Conference. Cypress Woods also won the Crime Stoppers of Houston School PSA Video Contest. The Cypress Ridge and Cypress Springs HS robotics teams competed at the VEX Robotics World Championship. More than 13,000 certifications were earned by students in their programs of study this year!

Additional achievements included 23 CFISD students being named National Merit semifinalists, and six Destination Imagination teams earning top-six victories at the Lone Star Finals Affiliate State Tournament. Eighteen CFISD campuses were named to the Educational Results Partnership 2024 Honor Roll list.
As a district, we raised $80,000 for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation at the Superintendent’s Fun Run. Twenty-seven new Adopt-a-School partnerships were formed. CFISD won the TASBO Award of Excellence in Financial Management. An efficiency audit found that CFISD is operating at a more efficient rate fiscally than peer district and state averages. Our energy management team won Energy Management Program of the Year and Manny Villalobos was named Energy Manager of the Year at the TEMA Awards in Excellence luncheon. Nearly 2,000 visitors attended the 2025 Career Fair—more than any neighboring district. Our teacher residency partnership with Region 4 completed its pilot year with seven paid residents—a number that will expand to 70 next year! The TEA approved CFISD as a Fully Approved Teacher Incentive Allotment District for 2024-25.

The 89th Texas Legislative Session is coming to a close on June 2. Thank you for all your advocacy on behalf of our school district. I also want to thank our legislators who have listened to our committee testimonies and worked hard to pass bills that benefit CFISD and our community. We are optimistic that passage of a school finance bill will ultimately lead to increased revenue for the upcoming school year.
Thank you for helping make CFISD the amazing district that it is. Enjoy a restful summer, and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in 2025-26!
