In accordance with the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 37, Rule §37.25, CFISD will conduct the following state-mandated health screenings. All screenings will be performed by certified screeners following guidance from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- Vision and Hearing Screening:
- All students aged 4 and older who are enrolled for the first time
- Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th grades
- Spinal Screening
- Girls in 5th and 7th grades
- Boys in 8th grade
- Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes (Acanthosis Nigricans)
- Students in 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th grades
If you wish to opt out of any required screening, you may do so by submitting signed and dated documentation from a licensed healthcare provider showing the completed screening results. This documentation must be provided to your campus nurse no later than September 1st. If the screening conflicts with the beliefs or practices of your student’s church or religious denomination, you may submit an affidavit to the school nurse in place of the screening record.
