School-Health Related Services
Dear parents/guardians,
We would like to inform you of an important change in state law that affects how our campus provides health related services to students. Effective September 1, 2025, all public schools are required to obtain annual written parental consent before providing any routine health care services to students by qualified school staff, including school nurses and athletic trainers.
What does this mean for your child?
Starting September 1, school staff, including school nurses and athletic trainers, will be required to have parent/guardian written consent on file before providing any non-emergent health-related services or medical care to students.
Routine Health-Related Services Provided at Your Child’s Campus:
- First aid and injury evaluation
- Assessment and evaluation of illnesses and physical symptoms
- Administration of prescription medications in accordance with the law
- Administration of over-the-counter medications in accordance with law
- Monitoring of chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes)
- Vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings
- Acanthosis screening
- Coordination of health care
Without consent, school staff will not be able to assess or treat your child for non-emergent health concerns. In case of a serious emergency, staff will still act to protect your child’s safety, call for emergency services, and contact you immediately.
To ensure your child continues to receive timely health-related care and support during the school day, we ask that you complete the Health Services Annual Consent Form as soon as possible using the appropriate link(s) below. You may also find this information on the CFISD Health Services webpage.
