Cypress Woods baseball team advances to regional semifinals

Cypress Woods High School senior Sam Myers and the Wildcats advanced to the Class 6A Region II semifinals after sweeping Klein Oak in a best-of-three series to become regional quarterfinal champions. They advanced to play Rockwall Heath in a best-of-three series beginning May 25 at Baylor Ballpark in Waco.

May 22, 2023—The Cypress Woods High School baseball team advanced past the regional quarterfinal round of the UIL Class 6A playoffs and to the regional semifinal round this week.

The Wildcats defeated Klein Oak in a best-of-three series by the scores of 10-0 and 15-0. They advance to face Rockwall Heath in a best-of-three series to be played at Baylor Ballpark (1612 S. University Parks Drive) in Waco:

  • Game 1 – 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 25;
  • Game 2 – 8 p.m. on Friday, May 26; and
  • Game 3, if necessary – noon on Saturday, May 27.

Tickets for games will be $5 each (adults and students) and sold online through Baylor University.

Cypress Woods (34-3) has won 20 consecutive games. The Wildcats ended the regular season ranked atop the Diamond Pro/txhighschoolbaseball.com poll in Class 6A and No. 2 in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association poll. They are currently sixth in the nation in the MaxPreps.com Top 25 rankings and No. 16 according to Perfect Game.
