The Cypress Woods High School baseball team celebrates after clinching its regional semifinal series against Rockwall Heath. The Wildcats advanced to the Region II-6A final after winning the best-of-three series. They advanced to play The Woodlands in a best-of-three series beginning June 1 at Don Sanders Stadium in Huntsville.

May 30, 2023—The Cypress Woods High School baseball team advanced past the regional semifinal round of the UIL Class 6A playoffs and to the Region II-6A final this week.

After dropping the first game. 9-1, the Wildcats defeated Rockwall Heath in a best-of-three series at Baylor Ballpark by winning the next two games, 7-0 and 8-4, respectively. The Game 3 victory came in extra innings, sending Cypress Woods to the regional championship for the first time.

Cypress Woods (36-4) advances to face The Woodlands (33-8-1) in the Region II-6A final. The teams will play a best-of-three series at Sam Houston State University’s Don Sanders Stadium (620 Bowers Blvd.) in Huntsville:

  • Game 1 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 1;
  • Game 2 – 7 p.m. on Friday, June 2; and
  • Game 3, if necessary – 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 3.

Tickets for games will be $10 each (adults and students) and sold online.

The four Class 6A regional champions will advance to the UIL Baseball State Championships, to be held June 7-10 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock and UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin.

Cypress Woods is currently sixth in the nation in the MaxPreps.com Top 25 rankings and No. 10 according to Perfect Game.
