Aug. 25, 2021—Bane Elementary School and its staff members finished the 2020-2021 school year as the top participant in the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF) Donate to Educate program, a distinction the campus has now earned for the last six years.

Through Donate to Educate, CFISD employees give—either through payroll deductions or a one-time donation of $100—to the CFEF to generate money for student scholarships. With nearly 60% of the staff participating in the program, Bane donated nearly $8,000.

For being the top participant, Bane staff were treated to a free lunch on Aug. 20 by the CFEF.

Donate to Educate raised approximately $200,000 for the 2020-2021 school year. A Donate to Educate Endowment was established in 2017, and the first scholarship was awarded the next year.

Bane Principal César Diaz and former campus principal Dr. Carrie Marz have overseen the top participating school every year the program has awarded a winner, beginning with Marz at Willbern Elementary School in 2015 before she moved to Bane. Diaz replaced Marz following the 2019-2020 school year.

“It is truly admirable to see our Bane staff supporting the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation and the students in our district through the Donate to Educate program,” Diaz said. “This is a testament to understanding that the pathway to college starts in elementary and each contribution counts towards making the college dream a reality. Thank you Bane faculty and staff for your contributions.”
