Aug. 19, 2021—Langham Creek High School junior Nitya Kodali will serve as the Area 2 president for the Texas Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) – Future Health Professionals for the 2021-2022 school year.

Kodali and her fellow officers were elected to their positions during the Area 2 Spring Leadership Conference, which was held virtually. They completed their officer training Aug. 1-3 in San Antonio.

Texas HOSA is divided into seven areas. Area 2 covers more than 25 counties and stretches from the Houston area north to Bryan and College Station, and south to Victoria and the Corpus Christi area.

As president, Kodali’s duties include serving as the presiding officer and area representative at HOSA meetings and functions, developing an annual program of work to ensure goals are accomplished, and planning and conducting leadership conferences in the fall and spring.

Kodali has been involved in HOSA since her freshman year, advancing to state competition as a freshman and qualifying as a finalist at the international competition level this summer. She also served as her chapter’s chairperson last year.

“I am beyond honored to be serving as the HOSA Area President this year,” said Kodali who aspires to be a physician. “This position is not about me but rather the members who make this amazing organization what it is. I will work to ensure the expectations of all our members are exceeded.”
