Blake Stuart is CFISD’s first student to complete the Real Estate Program and earn his Texas Real Estate License. Stuart plans to work with Keller Williams Realty while attending Baylor University in the fall.
May 28, 2021—Cypress Woods High School senior Blake Stuart made history this spring, becoming CFISD’s first student to complete the real estate program and attain his real estate license.
Part of CFISD’s career and technical education (CTE) curriculum, the real estate program gives participating students the chance to earn their real estate license while completing courses for high school and possible college credit.
“Opportunities such as this are what career and technical education are all about,” said CTE Coordinator David Srubar. “Whether a student wants to go to college or straight into the workforce after college, we are trying our best to prepare these students to be business and industry ready.”
The program partners with Pioneer School of Real Estate for online testing and curriculum. Students must complete a pre-licensing course and background check before applying for their final two (state and national) exams. The pre-licensing course consists of six modules, each culminating with an exam and a certificate. Students completing the program while in school have the benefit of dedicated class time for preparation for the modules.
“I have had Blake in class over the last three years,” said Cypress Woods business, marketing and finance teacher Stephanie D’Angelo. “He has earned multiple Microsoft Office certifications and is now a licensed realtor with the state. Blake has grit, and it is so rewarding to work with him because I know that nothing will deter him from reaching his goals. I have watched him overcome major obstacles and setbacks. I do not doubt that he will build a successful career.”
CFISD students in the program are also required to be employed or volunteer 10 hours a week throughout the school year. Stuart worked with Friedman Realty, getting exposure in preparing commercial real estate showings, maintaining properties, drone operation and more.
“Blake Stuart interned at Friedman Realty Group and showed unbelievable discipline and persistence in his pursuit to complete the Texas Real Estate Agent curriculum,” said Andy Friedman, owner of Friedman Realty Group. “He received his real estate license from the Texas Real Estate Commission. This is a monumental task to complete in one school year! This program is an excellent way to cultivate young professionals who have a passion for business and real estate. It was an absolute pleasure working with Blake.”
Stuart passed the final exam on his first attempt. According to the Texas Real Estate Commission, the overall passing rate for first-time test takers is approximately 60%. Stuart is planning to work with Keller Williams Realty while attending Baylor University.
