CFISD names new principal for Metcalf Elementary School

Linda Montemayor, assistant principal at Warner Elementary School, was named the new principal at Metcalf Elementary School.

July 25, 2023Linda Montemayor, assistant principal at Warner Elementary School, was named the new principal at Metcalf Elementary School on July 25. Montemayor replaces John Steward, who retired in June.

Montemayor has 28 years of experience in education. Her career began as a first grade teacher in Alief ISD. After three years, she moved to CFISD as a classroom teacher at Horne Elementary School. In 2000, she became a reading enrichment and dyslexia teacher at Bane Elementary School, and then served in the same position at Horne for three years.

In 2004, Montemayor moved into administration where she became an instructional specialist at Emmott Elementary School. She became an assistant principal at Reed Elementary School in 2010 and accepted her current principal position at Warner in 2018.

During her tenure as an assistant principal, Montemayor served as an assistant principal mentor, summer school principal and Camp Summit director. She has also completed the CFISD Aspiring Principal Institute.

Montemayor earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston and Master in Educational Principalship from Concordia University.

“I am truly blessed to join the Metcalf staff,” Montemayor said. “I am enthusiastic and honored to be working with a wonderful, dedicated staff. I look forward to working with staff, students and the community to continue to provide excellence in student achievement.”
