Tenth annual Superintendent’s Fun Run set for April 1
Dr. Mark Henry, CFISD superintendent of schools, starts the 5K at the ninth annual Superintendent’s Fun Run in April 2022. The CFISD community will celebrate a decadelong history of supporting students and staff at the 10th annual event, to be held April 1 at the Berry Center and Towne Lake Community.
Jan. 31, 2023—Reaching its landmark 10th year, the annual Superintendent’s Fun Run is scheduled for April 1 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road) and Towne Lake community. Filled with exciting live entertainment, two course layouts for running or walking, kids’ activities and other family-friendly endeavors, the fun run is the largest outdoor fundraising event in the district and CFISD will celebrate 10 years of supporting students and staff.
Underwritten by Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital, the fun-filled community event will again include a 5K run and 1-mile family-friendly walk/run. For the 5K run, participants will run through Towne Lake and Lone Star College—CyFair. The family path will wind through Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.
The fun run will also include vendor booths, food trucks, live entertainment and activities for children.
Proceeds from the Superintendent’s Fun Run benefit the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF), which awards student scholarships and staff development grants. The event has raised $764,000 in its first nine years. That includes then-record amounts in 2020 and 2021 when events were held virtually.
In addition to a 5K run, the Superintendent’s Fun Run features a 1-mile family-friendly walk/run.
Registration will be $25 (non-students) and $20 (students) for the 5K, which includes a t-shirt and timing chip. Registration for the 1-mile, family-friendly walk/run will be $25 (non-students) and $20 (students), which also includes a t-shirt. Awards will be given by age group and gender for the 5K run.
A sleep-in pass is also available for $10 (non-students) and $5 (students) for individuals who are not able to attend but would like to still contribute from afar. T-shirts are available for $12 each.
The Superintendent’s Century Club gives special recognition to those whose registration total equals or exceeds $100. Club membership includes one reserved parking permit, a commemorative ribbon and a set of golden laces. Benefits will be awarded at each $100 increment spent on registration, with a family of three, for example, receiving three parking permits if the members’ total spending reaches $300 or more.
Patrons can browse vendor booths and food trucks while also enjoying live performances by student groups and a play zone.
