Oct. 12, 2021—The district hosted the sixth annual Community Mental Health Resource Fair on Oct. 6 at the Berry Center in order to showcase mental health services offered to the CFISD community.

The event, sponsored by the CFISD guidance and counseling and psychological services departments, allowed district parents, staff and community members to meet with the CFISD Mental Health Intervention Team and community mental health care providers while discovering available resources.

“It’s so important that we share and communicate about the mental health resources in our community,” said Dr. Traci Schluter, director of psychological services. “In the last year and a half, so many people have struggled with the effects of COVID-19, financial struggles and not being able to connect with people in person. It’s really exciting that we’re able to share resources and have the community connect face-to-face with everyone.”

A total of 61 mental health providers and vendors attended the fair. A raffle was held with door prizes donated from numerous mental health professionals and community partners.

“One of the key phrases in counseling is being proactive,” said Franklin Sampson, director of guidance and counseling. “What this fair does is allows us to not only be proactive but also provide resources. It’s important for us to take care of the physical aspects of a person, but also care for the emotional state of each individual.”
