CFISD director elected school counselor association vice president

Jan. 13, 2022Franklin Sampson, CFISD director of guidance and counseling, was recently elected as the Lone Star State School Counselor Association (LSSSCA) office of counselor educator vice president.

The LSSSCA helps provide professional development, leadership opportunities and advocacy to school counselors in Texas. The chartered division of the American School Counselor Association representing Texas, the LSSSCA and its members look to empower school counselors with knowledge and skills to promote professionalism and ethical practices.

Sampson was among three newly elected LSSSCA officers for 2022.

As the counselor educator vice president, Sampson will be responsible for connecting with school counseling professionals at universities in order to develop future school counselors. 

“This will be an awesome opportunity and give me a chance to continue to give back to others,” Sampson said. “I have made it part of my daily goal to do everything I can to make an impact on someone's life. Serving in this capacity will help our organization grow to higher heights. I have the unique position of supervising almost 300 school counselors, 19 social workers, four mental health intervention counselors and one substance use counselor. I will use my influence to continue to feed into this awesome association.”
