Aug. 5, 2022—Representatives from Costco Wholesale Cypress donated 384 backpacks to McFee Elementary School on July 28 for students in need ahead of the 2022-2023 school year.

Each year, Costco donates backpacks to schools in need as part of a yearly initiative set forth by Costco’s corporate offices. In addition to donating backpacks to McFee this year, Costco Wholesale Cypress donated backpacks to Hoover and Jowell elementary schools last year.

“We’re always wanting to help our community,” said Deonne Chadwick, Costco marketing representative. “These backpacks are going to deserving kids and will help them have a great school year.”

All 384 backpacks are pre-packed with school supplies, including folders and rulers.

“Our friends at Costco are supporting our students once again with a generous donation of school supplies and backpacks,” said Dawn Tryon, director of community engagement. “During a challenging time for parents, its business partners like Costco that give from their hearts and provide additional resources to families in CFISD. Costco is bringing out the best in our community!”
