CFISD names new principal for Postma Elementary School

May 24, 2024Tracy Barstow, assistant principal at Postma Elementary School, was named the principal of Postma on May 24. Barstow replaces Teresa Bell, who will retire at the conclusion of the school year.  

Barstow has 24 years of experience in education, all of which have been in CFISD. She began as a student teacher at Hancock Elementary School and later became a special education teacher at Bang Elementary School. In 2005 she transferred to Sampson Elementary School, where she served as a general education teacher before being named Math Curriculum Coach at Hemmenway Elementary School in 2009. In 2010, she became the math and science instructional specialist at Francone Elementary.  

Barstow was promoted to assistant principal at Bang in 2014. She moved into her current position as assistant principal at Postma in April 2020. She has also served as a summer school principal at Andre’ and Lowery Elementary Schools from 2020-2023.

Barstow earned her Bachelor of Science in 2000 from Sam Houston State University and her Master of Education in 2009 from Stephen F. Austin State University.

“To be chosen as the next principal for Postma Elementary is a true honor,” Barstow said. “I have loved this community for the last four years and look forward to continuing the traditions established at Postma. The positive culture rooted in growth mindset and commitment to hard work are just a few areas that makes Postma a special place to learn. I am excited to continue serving the students, staff and families of this amazing community. I just can’t hide my Puma Pride!”
