Cy Park, JVHS win district titles; six football teams enter playoffs

Nov. 7, 2021—CFISD ended its football season Nov. 6, claiming two outright district championships and qualifying six teams to the UIL Class 6A postseason.

Jersey Village High School finished 7-0 in District 17-6A to claim an undefeated district title. Cypress Park High School finished 6-1 in District 16-6A to claim the program’s first-ever district title.

Cypress Ranch, Bridgeland and Cypress Woods high schools all finished one game behind Cypress Park with 5-2 district records. Cypress Ranch earned the district’s second seed due to the Mustangs’ head-to-head victories over both the Bears and Wildcats. Bridgeland earned the district’s third seed due to the Bears head-to-head victory over the Wildcats. Cypress Woods earned the District 16-6A fourth seed. All three join Cypress Park in advancing to the playoffs.

Cypress Ranch and Cypress Woods will be 16-6A’s Division I representatives, while Cypress Park and Bridgeland will participate in the Division II-6A bracket.

In 17-6A, Spring Branch ISD’s Stratford High School finished in second place behind Jersey Village. Cy-Fair High School finished with a 5-2 district record to earn the third seed. Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School finished in fourth place.

Cy-Fair and Jersey Village will be 17-6A’s Division I playoff teams.

The following bi-district playoff matchups are set for this week:

  • Cypress Park will play Tomball on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium (8877 Barker Cypress Road);
  • Cypress Ranch will meet Klein Oak on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium;
  • Bridgeland will play Klein Collins on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Klein Memorial Stadium (16607 Stuebner-Airline Road);
  • Cypress Woods will meet Klein Cain on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Tomball ISD Stadium (20235 Cypress Rosehill Rd.);
  • Jersey Village will play Houston Westside on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Ken Pridgeon Stadium (11355 Falcon Road); and
  • Cy-Fair will meet Houston Lamar on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Houston ISD’s Delmar Stadium (1900 Mangum Road).

For games at Cy-Fair FCU and Pridgeon stadiums, season ticket holders from Cypress Park, Cypress Ranch and Jersey Village can purchase tickets beginning Sunday, Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. and tickets will be held through Monday, Nov. 8. Any remaining tickets will be made available to the general public beginning Tuesday, Nov. 9. Tickets can be purchased on the cy-fairtix.com website. Tickets can also be purchased in-person Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or on the day of each game from 8 a.m. to noon in the athletic department located at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road, Suite 1401, use Entrance No. 2). Only current season ticket holders may purchase tickets in-person on Monday, Nov. 8. General public tickets will become available for in-person purchase on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Tickets will also be sold beginning Wednesday, Nov. 10 at each campus.
