Sept. 30, 2022—Representatives from Sampson Elementary School visited the staff at Farney Elementary School on Sept. 27 to officially announce their Adopt-a-School partnership between the two campuses.

CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program pairs schools with community organizations and business partners to utilize resources of the community to strengthen and enrich the quality of education for students.

Heather Motzny, Sampson principal, shared that as part of Sampson’s 20th anniversary, a Sampson staff member suggested that the Sampson staff and community complete 20 random acts of kindness. One of those random acts includes adopting Farney.

“As part of the 20 random acts of kindness, we wanted to include the entire Sampson community, so I enlisted the help of our PTO,” Motzny said. “Within a few days of hearing me speak about this, our PTO president brought back an entire calendar of suggestions and an idea to establish a more permanent contribution. It took us maybe 10 seconds to reach the conclusion that we wanted to adopt Farney. I am so very proud and honored to be a part of a community that wants to truly make a difference.”

Dr. Tricia Reilly, Farney principal, expressed her thankfulness to Sampson’s staff and PTO for their commitment to help support Farney staff and students.

“We were so excited to find out our school had been adopted,” Dr. Reilly said. “To learn that Sampson’s PTO wanted to spread joy on our campus through their Sampson Gives initiative made the adoption even more special.”
