Bridgeland HS advances to Region II-6A volleyball tournament

The Bridgeland High School volleyball team swept Langham Creek in three sets to advance to the Region II-6A tournament for the second consecutive year. The Bears will play Rockwall at 6 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Lufkin Multipurpose Facility in the region semifinal.

Nov. 11, 2022—The Bridgeland High School volleyball team advanced past the region quarterfinal round of the UIL Class 6A playoffs to advance to the Region II-6A tournament in Lufkin, while Langham Creek High School concluded its season as region quarterfinalist. 

Bridgeland swept Langham Creek in three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-18. The Bears will meet Rockwall in the Region II tournament semifinal at 6 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Lufkin Multipurpose Facility (309 S. Medford Drive).

If Bridgeland defeats Rockwall, the Bears will play the winner of Waxahachie and The Woodlands at noon on Nov. 12 at the Lufkin Multipurpose Facility. This is the second consecutive year Bridgeland has advanced to the region tournament.

“I am so proud of this hard working group of athletes,” said Verena Khalil, Bridgeland head volleyball coach. “They are so fun to coach as they take every challenge set forth in training in stride. They set a goal to get to state again and they sure are working their hardest to compete at a high level! We are definitely ready for some hard matches at the region tournament in Lufkin.”

Tickets for the Region II tournament are $10 each for adults and $5 each for students and will be sold at the door with card or cash.
