CFISD names new principal for Hancock Elementary School

Tamera Felder, principal at Wilson Elementary School, was named the new principal at Hancock Elementary School on Nov. 17.

Nov. 17, 2022Tamera Felder, principal at Wilson Elementary School, was named the new principal at Hancock Elementary School on Nov. 17. Felder replaces Lissa Archuletta, who will retire in January.

Felder has 22 years of experience in education, all coming in CFISD. Her career began as a classroom teacher at Farney Elementary School. After five years, she moved to Sheridan Elementary School where she served four years as a teacher, testing coordinator and behavior interventionist.

 In 2010, Felder moved into administration where she became an assistant principal at Emmott Elementary School. She accepted her current principal position at Wilson Elementary School in 2016. Felder also served as the summer school principal at Hairgrove Elementary School in 2015.

Felder earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and her Master of Science in Human Sciences from Prairie View A&M University. She is a 2016 graduate of the Rice University Education Entrepreneurship Program and participant of the National Principal Mentor Certification Program through the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

“I am honored and humbled to have been selected to serve the students and staff of Hancock Elementary,” Felder said. “I look forward to continuing the great traditions of the school and building a strong community of respectful, kind and resilient 21st Century life-long learners.”
