Bridgeland, Cy Ranch students showcase work in Capitol Arts Education Summit

Cypress Ranch High School senior Emma Elsbury’s hair and make-up design work for Into the Woods was selected to be displayed at the Texas state capitol as part of the inaugural Capitol Arts Education Summit held April 6.

May 4, 2023—Bridgeland High School senior Ethan Miller and Cypress Ranch High School senior Emma Elsbury were invited to present their theatrical design work at the inaugural Capitol Arts Education Summit, held April 6 at the Texas state capitol in Austin.

Texas Thespians, in collaboration with the Texas Arts Education Campaign (TAEC), hosted the Capitol Arts Education Summit, celebrating fine arts education by featuring performances and work from students from all fine arts disciplines.

Both Miller and Elsbury were two out of 13 students from across the state selected to showcase their work as part of the summit. Miller’s designs were from his work for Bridgeland’s production of Little Shop of Horrors and Elsbury’s designs were from her work for Cypress Ranch’s production of Into the Woods.

“I am extremely proud of Ethan and Emma, not only for their impressive design work, but also for sharing their work with decision makers in Austin,” said Kelley Hughes, coordinator of secondary fine arts. “This is an excellent opportunity for Austin to see the great work fine arts students in CFISD and across the state do.”
