Sampson Elementary student wins first in national art competition

May 19, 2023—Sampson Elementary School second grade student Jubilee Bui was named the first-place winner in the K-2 division of the 2023 K12 National Art Competition, sponsored by Stride.

For placing first in the competition, Bui won a Microsoft Surface tablet and will have a one-to-one virtual art session with a professional artist. In addition, a copy of her winning art will be framed and placed at the Stride corporate headquarters in Herndon, Va.

In describing her artwork, A Group of Happy Pirates Riding their Kitty Boat, Bui said, “On the way to their adventure, they meet some new friends and spend a good time together.”

“The Sampson community is very proud of Jubilee and this monumental accomplishment,” said Heather Motzny, Sampson principal. “Jubilee is a hard worker and she is an eager, growing learner. We are thrilled that her artwork is being honored at this level.”
