Costco donates backpacks to Jowell and Hoover elementary schools

Aug. 31, 2021—Representatives from Costco Wholesale Cypress donated 384 backpacks to Hoover and Jowell elementary schools on Aug. 18 for students in need.  

Deonne Chadwick, Costco marketing representative, reached out to Dawn Tryon, CFISD director of community engagement, expressing Costco’s desire to donate backpacks.

“Representatives from the corporate level at Costco donate backpacks and school supplies to schools every year,” Chadwick said. “We’re proud to provide these backpacks to these deserving schools.”

All 384 backpacks included school supplies, including folders and rulers. The donation is part of a yearly initiative by Costco to give back to community schools.

“Students are thrilled to start the next school year with a new backpack and school supplies,” Tryon said. “We appreciate business partners like Costco for supporting CFISD with their generous backpack donation to set students up for success. Together, we are making a difference and bringing out the best in our community!”
