CFISD students qualify for UIL Academic State Meet

Cy-Fair High School junior Avery McSwain placed first in the Lincoln Douglas Debate event at the UIL Region III-6A Academic Meet, held April 26-27 at Katy ISD’s Seven Lakes High School. McSwain advances to the UIL Academic State Meet, scheduled for May 13-15 at the University of Texas at Austin. 

May 1, 2024—CFISD students competed in the UIL Academic Region II-6A and Region III-6A meets, held April 26-27 at Baylor University in Waco and Katy ISD’s Seven Lakes High School, respectively.

In Region II-6A, Cypress Ranch High School was the highest-placing team from CFISD finishing fifth overall with 78 points. Cypress Woods High School placed sixth overall with 69 points. In Region III-6A, Cy-Fair High School placed fifth overall with 84 points.

Individual students who placed in the top three and the top team in each event at the region competitions qualify for the state meet, set for May 13-15 at the University of Texas at Austin. The top six individuals in each event are recognized as medalists.
