Cy-Fair and Cypress Park high schools are two of 11 CFISD teams competing in the CFISD Men’s Varsity Soccer Showcase Jan. 6-8. The event will be played in a showcase-style format, with all teams scheduled to play at least three full-length games.
In all, three of the UIL’s four regions (II, III and IV) will be represented in the showcase.
“Entering our 19th year hosting this outstanding event, we continue to be amazed at the level of competition that we are able to provide all our participants right out of the gate to start the high school soccer season,” said Scott Tucker, Langham Creek High School assistant principal and tournament director. “For 2022, we welcome 26 teams representing three of the four UIL competition regions at the 5A and 6A level. We can’t give enough thanks to the collaborative effort of CFISD athletics, our wonderful CFISD coaches and all our participants for their continued trust and support in maintaining the event’s standard of excellence. Reflecting on the number of teams that have started their seasons here over the previous 18 events, it has become a consistent trend that what starts at the CFISD Men’s Varsity Soccer Showcase ends up in Georgetown at the state championship, with a number of our past participants accomplishing this feat.”
Tickets will be sold at the gate for $3 (adults) and $2 (students) apiece. Spectators at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium are asked to enter through Gate 5, while spectators at Pridgeon Stadium are asked to enter on the home side. At campus sites, spectators will enter through the main entrance of the field and proceed to the seating area.
