Cypress Ridge HS grad to compete in Special Olympics USA Games
May 18, 2022—Patrick Billette, a 2019 Cypress Ridge High School graduate, will compete in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games June 5-12 in Orlando, Fla., representing the state of Texas as a gymnast.
Billette, 22, has trained for more than 10 years at Discover Gymnastics in Houston. He was recently featured in a “Sports Extra” segment on KHOU Channel 11 News.

He has traveled before for gymnastics, visiting Atlanta, Ga., for national competitions and Dallas for state competitions, but the USA Games—uniting more than 5,500 athletes and coaches from all 50 states and the Caribbean—will be his ultimate experience.
“I have been excited about getting selected to go to the USA Games since I found out a year ago,” Billette said. “I can’t wait to meet new athletes and coaches, and I hope to make this my best gymnastics experience ever!”

Billette recently completed his third year of four in the lifePATH Program at Lone Star College—Tomball, where he earned an award for distinguished academic excellence. He also works part-time at The Boral Agency as an administrative assistant and attends Summerhouse Houston, which offers community-based day services and supported employment services for people with intellectual disabilities. He is a Special Olympics Athlete Leader, an active violinist in the Houston Sinfonietta Orchestra and a saxophonist in the Gulf Coast Band.
