Bridgeland, Cy Ranch win district swimming championships

The Cypress Ranch High School girls’ swim team won the District 18-6A team championship, winning the title with 177 points.

Feb. 2, 2023—The Bridgeland High School boys’ swim team and the Cypress Ranch High School girls’ swim team claimed the District 18-6A titles at the district meets, held Jan. 27-28 at the CFISD Natatorium.

The Bridgeland boys won with a score of 177, followed by runner-up Cypress Ranch (129) and third place Cypress Springs High School (81). The Cypress Ranch girls placed first with a score of 177, Bridgeland placed second with 154 points and Cypress Lakes High School placed third with 53 points.

The Bridgeland High School boys’ swim team won the District 18-6A team championship, winning the title with 177 points.

Cypress Ranch Head Coach Richard Carnicle was named the District 18-6A Girls’ Coach of the Year, while Bridgeland Head Coach Bob Perkins was named the District 18-6A Boys’ Coach of the Year.

Bridgeland senior Emma Kinsey was named the 18-6A Girls’ Swimmer of the Meet and fellow Bridgeland senior Levi Thome was named the 18-6A Boys’ Swimmer of the Meet. Langham Creek High School sophomore Jailen Cervantes was named the 18-6A Girls’ Diver of the Meet and Cypress Springs junior Caden Feith was named the 18-6A Boys’ Diver of the Meet.

Bridgeland High School senior Levi Thome was named the District 18-6A Boys’ Swimmer of the Meet.

In District 17-6A, the Cypress Woods boys placed second overall with a score of 126, making the Wildcats the highest placing CFISD boys’ team. The Cy-Fair girls also placed second with a score of 139, making the Bobcats the highest placing CFISD girls’ team.

Cy-Fair Head Coach Hannah Doré was named the District 17-6A Co-Girls’ Coach of the Year and Cypress Woods Head Coach Michael Marucci was named the District 17-6A Boys’ Coach of the Year.

Cy-Fair sophomore Sofia Luper was named the 17-6A Girls’ Swimmer of the Meet and Cypress Woods senior Benjamin Scholl was named the 17-6A Boys’ Swimmer of the Meet. Cypress Woods junior Ben Romig was named the 17-6A Boys’ Diver of the Meet.

The top six individuals and relays (listed below) advance to the regional competition, to be held Feb. 2-5 at the CFISD Natatorium.
