Cy Falls boys’ basketball team advances to Region II-6A tournament

Cypress Falls High School senior Joseph Tugler and the Golden Eagles defeated Klein Collins, 64-38, in a regional quarterfinal matchup. They advanced to the Region II-6A tournament for the second year in a row and will face DeSoto at 5:30 p.m. on March 3 at the Lufkin Multipurpose Facility.

March 2, 2023—The Cypress Falls High School boys’ basketball team advanced past the region quarterfinal round of the UIL Class 6A playoffs and move on to the regional semifinals, while Cypress Creek and Cypress Springs high schools concluded their seasons.

Cypress Falls defeated Klein Collins, 64-38, to advance in the postseason. The region tournament berth is the second in a row for the Golden Eagles.

The Region II-6A Tournament will be March 3-4 at the Lufkin Multipurpose Facility (309 S. Medford Drive). Cypress Falls will meet DeSoto in the first tournament semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Mansfield Legacy and Klein Oak will play in the second semifinal.

The Cypress Falls High School boys’ basketball team will return to the Region II-6A tournament for a second consecutive season. The Golden Eagles advanced following a 64-38 win over Klein Collins in the regional quarterfinals.

Both regional semifinal winners will meet at 1 p.m. on March 4. The Region II-6A champion advances to the UIL Basketball State Championships, to be held March 9-11 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Tickets for the Region II tournament are $10 each for adults and $5 each for students and will be sold at the door with card or cash.

Cypress Creek High School was defeated by Katy Jordan, 82-61. The Cougars were District 17-6A champions and finished as regional quarterfinalists.

Cypress Springs High School was defeated by Klein Oak, 52-51. The Panthers were District 16-6A’s third seed and finished as regional quarterfinalists.
