CFISD names new principal for Salyards Middle School
April 29, 2024—Stacie Everson, principal at Birkes Elementary School, was named the principal at Salyards Middle School on April 29. Everson replaces Liz Wood, who will retire in June.

Middle school theatre students thrive at Drama Con
Feb. 3, 2024—More than 400 CFISD middle school students attended the CFISD Middle School “Drama Con” on Jan. 27. Led by all 12 high school theatre programs, including theatre directors and more than 100 volunteer high school theatre students, Drama Con is a theatre festival of workshops on acting and technical theatre and a live musical performance by the Cypress Creek High School theatre department.

Jan. 31, 2024—CFISD has earned the Texas Thespians Premiere Communities for Theatre Education Award. The award recognizes and honors school districts that provide theatre programs with resources to achieve above standard ratings, as rooted in the Educational Theatre Association’s Opportunity to Learn Standards, Texas Theatre Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Fine Arts and support of International Thespian Society Troupe involvement.

Nov. 21, 2023—The CFISD athletic department concluded its 2023 middle school football season by crowning four outright district champions. The season featured new zone and conference alignments for the 20 middle schools, while the football teams were showcased in semifinal and championship games at Cy-Fair FCU and Pridgeon stadiums.

Nov. 13, 2023—Sixteen CFISD students have been cast in the Houston Repertoire Ballet’s 25th annual performance of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, featuring professional guest artists Nikisha Fogo as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Aaron Robison as the Cavalier, with the new HRB company orchestra directed by Tarana Taylor.
