Feb. 15, 2024—Representatives from the College Football Playoff Houston Host Committee, Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey’s office and the Harris County Houston Sports Authority visited Hancock Elementary School on Feb. 15 to award the school through the Houston Loves Teachers initiative.

The donors awarded Hancock teacher Gabrielle Garrison with a $1,000 DonorsChoose gift card to invest in her classroom, as well as an additional $4,000 gift card to the campus.

“We wanted to honor educators making an impact across 12 school districts located inside Precinct 3,” said Maria Duran, director of community engagement for the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship. “We were fortunate to connect with Cy-Fair ISD in selecting a teacher that has done amazing things in the classroom, gives of her time and continues to create a great environment for the students. So we celebrated Gabrielle Garrison here at Hancock Elementary.”

“This legacy program for the National Football College Championship Game focuses on the recruitment, retention and development of teachers,” said Dawn Tryon, CFISD director of community engagement. “CFISD is so fortunate to have the opportunity to surprise Ms. Garrison that she earned $1,000 for her classroom. Additionally, Principal Tamera Felder was shocked to hear that she, too, received a donation of $4,000 for the campus. It was a great day to be a Hawk!”
