Thornton Middle School eighth grade student Layan Kossaibani participates in the annual CFISD Middle School Spelling Bee. Kossaibani, along with 39 other campus representatives, competed in the district bee.
“We are so grateful for all of those that worked to help us put on the 20 middle school campus spelling bees and our CFISD district spelling bee,” said Jacquelyn Loyd, secondary English and language arts curriculum coach. “It takes so many hands to help make these all a success. This year’s competition went to round 16 before Ashish Belani become the district champion and Edelynn Tang came in as the runner-up. All students showed how well prepared they were and should be very proud of their accomplishments. Thank you to our parents and families as well for their support of our middle school spellers. We look forward to cheering on these two at the HCC Regional Bee!”
The top two spellers from the regional bee will qualify for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland the week of Memorial Day.
