Bridgeland, Cy Ridge robotics teams qualify for VEX World Championship

March 27, 2024Bridgeland High School Robotics Team 77786B and Cypress Ridge High School Robotics Team 16329C have both qualified for the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship, set for April 25-27 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. Bridgeland and Cypress Ridge are the first two teams from CFISD to qualify for the World Championship competition.

Bridgeland earned a spot in the World Championship after earning the Amaze Award and placing fifth in Robot Skills at the Texas Region 3 Championship, held Feb. 23-24 at Clear Creek ISD’s Learner Support Center.

“Qualifying for the VEX Robotics World Championship is a huge accomplishment for our Bridgeland students as they are one of the first CFISD teams to qualify for the World Championship,” said Devin Murphy, Bridgeland robotics adviser. “These students show off their incredible robotics content knowledge and hard work at every competition, taking home many accolades throughout the year. They have put in countless hours working on their robot to make it highly competitive. I am so proud of this group of students who understand what is necessary to achieve great things and are willing to do what is necessary to make it happen. Congratulations to our robotics program, as they showcase hard-working, dedicated young people are capable of achieving great things inside the classroom and beyond.”

Cypress Ridge earned a spot in the World Championship after placing third in Robot Skills at the Texas Region 3 Championship.

“It’s a phenomenal achievement for us to make it to the VEX Robotics World Championship,” said Jessie Vo, Cypress Ridge robotics adviser. “I have immense pride for every single member of our robotics team. My students have poured countless hours into strategizing, designing and practicing. They have overcome obstacles and become more dedicated as hard-working individuals. Their work ethic shows how their resilience resulted in an incredible payoff. We are truly grateful for the support from our campus and community. Our journey signifies how the students of Cypress Ridge can serve as an inspiration for generations of aspiring innovators on a global scale.”

The annual World Championship brings together the top VEX IQ Robotics Competition, VEX Robotics Competition and VEX U teams from around the world to celebrate their accomplishments and participate for the ultimate prize.
