CFISD names new principal for Moore Elementary School

April 18, 2024Rebecca Hignight, assistant principal at Rennell Elementary School, was named the new principal at Moore Elementary School on April 18. Hignight replaces Patricia Myers who will retire in May.

Hignight is completing her 27th year in education. Her career began as a classroom teacher in Spring Branch ISD. She was also a teacher in Lamar Consolidated ISD. She later served as a fourth grade teacher and team lead in Katy ISD before coming to CFISD as the at-risk-specialist at Hemmenway Elementary School in 2008.

Hignight became an Instructional Specialist at Copeland Elementary School in 2009 before being promoted to assistant principal at Reed Elementary School in 2010. She accepted her current assistant principal position at Rennell in 2015. Hignight also served as a summer school principal at Bane, Francone, Lieder and Woodard elementary schools.

Hignight earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston and her Master of Education in Education Administration from Walden University.

“I am extremely honored and blessed to have been chosen to serve as principal at Moore Elementary,” Hignight said. “I am eager to continue the authentic traditions that are in place at Moore. I look forward to building relationships with students, staff, parents and community partners, along with fostering a culture of excellence every minute of every day. I am super excited to lead the Moore Armadillos! We Are Moore!”
