Why did you choose to live in CFISD?

My family relocated to the Cy Fair area after I graduated high school. The community is family oriented and we developed many friendships over the years. I felt comfortable staying in the Cy Fair community when my wife and I decided to start our own family.

Are you currently a CFISD volunteer? If so, what school(s)?

      No.

Have you been a CFISD volunteer in the past (include years)?

I have not been a CFISD volunteer in the past.

Considering your skills and talents, what positive contribution would you make as a member of the Board of Trustees?

I'd like to be a voice for children and the parents of those children that attend CFISD grades K-12 currently and in the near future. I am willing to serve and have the desire to assist with challenges that I recognize exist today and the foreseeable future within CFISD.

What are the responsibilities of the Board of Trustees?

The responsibilities of the Board of Trustees includes providing the Cy Fair community with education oversight through citizen governance. The Board of Trustees is responsible for hiring and evaluating the performance of the superintendent. The Board reviews budgeting and finance items, reviews district policies and procedures, evaluates instruction and helps develop instructional plans and goals. Encouraging ongoing education of staff is also a responsibility of the Board.

What role do positive trustee relations on the Board play in affecting student success?

Positive trustee relations sets the tone for the entire school district. Students, parents, and staff should feel comfortable with the members of the Board and their ability to work together for shared common goals. The most important goal in the school district is the development and success of the student. Board Trustees have a responsibility to lead by example to unite students and the community through positive interactions and working as a team.

What critical challenges face the district, and what are possible solutions to address those issues?

The most critical challenge that I see facing the district at this time is lack of leadership from at least one CFISD Board member. The Board has a responsibility to ensure that those that repeatedly make statements of hate and bigotry in the community are not influencing curriculum or policy. Hate speech and bigotry goes against the district's motto, "Opportunity for All." The only solution is an immediate resignation or removal from the board.
