Why did you choose to live in CFISD?

I chose to live in CFISD because my husband grew up here and graduated from Cy-Fair HS. Our daughter, Taylor also graduated from Cy-Fair HS and also had an amazing experience as did Trevor. There is a great history and pride here in Cypress and we wanted to continue the Spradley tradition. The school district is excellent.

Are you currently a CFISD volunteer? If so, what school(s)?

Yes. I help out as available for Sampson Elementary and always try to donate financially.

List your participation in CFISD school and/or district parent clubs, business partnerships and/or committees.

I am helping this year with Nature Trails for 5th graders at Sampson. Until recent, my schedule did not allow time to volunteer due to being a teacher myself. This past year with the pandemic, volunteering was unfortunately not an option or I would have loved to be on campus helping.

Include any other areas in which you have supported CFISD not included in previous question.

I love to go and support my husband at events/sporting events he has at Arnold Middle School. I have participated in the Superintendent's Fun Run and I support other family members at their school events. I am and will be a supporter of the CFISD Police Department, Athletics, Transportation, Food Service and all of the other departments across the district that make us a place for excellence where people will want to raise their children.

List Cy-Fair organizations in which you currently participate, including offices held.

      Alpha Chi Omega alumni

      University of Houston alumni

      Moms for Liberty

In the past, I was very limited on time to volunteer with schools/organizations due to teaching myself. I would also like to add that in the last several years I have been a caregiver to a family member. I am now able to devote time and I will not be spreading time across several organizations. I will be able to focus on my board duties.

Considering your skills and talents, what positive contribution would you make as a member of the Board of Trustees?

I am relentless and I will work hard for our community and I will keep our values and trust at the forefront of every decision I make. I will also be keeping an open line of communication available to the community. I believe in being transparent and highly visible, while also being approachable. I am the Conservative Choice for Position 5. I am a Mom in the district, a wife to a district educator, a taxpayer and a former public educator with a common sense approach.

What are the responsibilities of the Board of Trustees?

The responsibility of the school board is to listen to and represent that community in which they serve. The board of trustees works collaboratively along with the Superintendent, which they are responsible for hiring to govern the district. They together set goals and monitor the the success of those goals. They adopt policy and routinely measure the effectiveness of said policies. They must make it a priority to listen to all stakeholders and use that feedback to properly adjust goals and policies needed for the community as whole. Lastly, the board is in charge of setting the local tax rate.

What role do positive trustee relations on the Board play in affecting student success?

I believe the board has a very important role to play in student success. As a board we are in charge of the policies that ultimately affect student success. We should be constantly monitoring the goals we set and adjusting as needed. An important step in this is to listen to our stakeholders. We need to listen to the educators and parents and hearing what they have to share. An open line of two-way communication is vital to a positive trustee relationship. We need to be representing the community as a whole and not just making decisions as we see fit.

What critical challenges face the district, and what are possible solutions to address those issues?

CFISD is growing at a rapid pace and continues to. We need to be good stewards of tax dollars through comprehensive strategic planning and eliminate fluff. We must also continue to work with the community and staff to ensure CFISD maintains high academic standards for ALL students. A review of the current curriculum is necessary. The focus needs to be on core curriculum to properly prepare our students for academic and professional success, while leaving political opinions out of the classroom.
