Cypress Park High School senior Emmanuel Kajopelaye was named to the Academic All-District 16-6A Boys’ Golf Team.
July 5, 2022—One hundred and forty-one CFISD student-athletes qualified for the Academic All-District 16-6A and 17-6A boys’ and girls’ golf teams, released last month.
All 12 high school programs were represented by the students who earned the academic all-district recognition. Those who earned the honor finished the 2021-2022 season in good standing and earned a composite weighted grade point average of 5.5 or higher for all classes for the two identified six weeks that make up the majority of their regular season.
“Girls’ golfers and coaches in CFISD completed one outstanding season with three young ladies advancing to the UIL State Tournament,” said Virginia Flores, associate athletic director. “More importantly, our golfers honored their commitment to academic excellence. We are so proud of the 63 girls’ golfers who have epitomized the essence of student-athlete and are being recognized for their academic all-district accolades this season!”
Said Charles Ament, associate athletic director: “This year, the boys’ golf season ended with a team reaching the UIL State Tournament and it was just as successful off the course as well. Having 78 golfers being recognized as academic all-district is reflective of one of the pillars of the CFISD Athletic Department—academic excellence. The number of student-athletes being recognized is no surprise after watching the success on the course. We are appreciative of their efforts and are thankful for their contributions to the athletic programs they represent in the community of CFISD.”
