CFISD student wins state school bus safety poster contest

Sprague Middle School eighth grade student Case Madison won the first-place overall title in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation School Bus Safety Poster Contest.

April 18, 2024—Sprague Middle School eighth grade student Case Madison claimed the first-place overall title in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) School Bus Safety Poster Contest.

The TAPT School Bus Safety Poster contest was established to increase school bus safety awareness and to afford opportunities for students to win scholarships. School districts in more than forty states participate in local and state level competitions to select artwork that promotes school bus safety.

“Case is a very talented and hardworking student,” said Julie Lamarche, Sprague art teacher. “I am constantly impressed by the quality and thoughtfulness of his work. His creativity and work ethic generate innovative ideas and ensure their execution to the highest standard. His unique, personal expressions are a joy to behold.”

Madison’s poster won first place in the division three contest and overall winner of the poster contest. As the overall winner, Madison will be receiving a $500 check from TAPT and his poster will be submitted to the National Association of Pupil Transportation (NAPT) poster contest.

“I am so excited that I was able to win the competition and spread my view of safety and its future,” Madison said. “Safety is something that can unite everyone in any place, especially on a school bus, so I think that it is important for everyone to be informed and aware.

In conjunction with the first place and overall winner’s prize, first-place winners of the remaining three divisions received a $250 check. Second-place winners received a $100 check. Third-place winners received a $50 check, and the first-place winner of the computer-aided drawing division received a $50 check.
