Dec. 9, 2021—Bridgeland High School senior quarterback Conner Weigman was named the Touchdown Club of Houston’s 2021 Offensive Player of the Year, winning the honor Dec. 8 among 10 finalists in Greater Houston at a ceremony at the Bayou City Event Center.

The Touchdown Club’s 42nd annual UIL High School Awards Dinner, presented by Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and Texan Live, showcased the finalists for the organization’s awards. Two CFISD football standouts, including Weigman, and two head coaches were recognized as finalists.

Weigman, a three-year starter for Bridgeland, helped lead the Bears to an 11-3 record and appearance in the Division II-6A Region II final this season. He threw for more than 2,500 yards to go with 29 touchdowns.

A standout in football and baseball, Weigman is verbally committed to Texas A&M University to play both sports in college.

“To see the list of the names of people who won it before me, it’s just an honor to be on that list,” Weigman said. “It was really cool to be able to share that with my family and coaching staff.”

Cypress Park High School senior running back Harold Perkins was also honored Wednesday. He was among 10 finalists for the Offensive Player of the Year award.

Raffield and Jersey Village Head Coach David Snokhous were honored among 10 finalists for the Coach of the Year award.

“It’s good to see a group there. That says a lot about our district,” Weigman said. “It shows we’re doing something right and the district is having a lot of success. There’s a lot of competition and that’s good for not just me, but all the guys here in CFISD that want to succeed in football.”

Weigman becomes the third consecutive CFISD standout to win a UIL high school award from the Touchdown Club, which began honoring Houston’s top student-athletes in 1980, and the second consecutive from Bridgeland.

Weigman follows a pair of consecutive Defensive Player of the Year honorees. Former Bridgeland defensive back Bryce McMorris earned the award for the 2020 season, following former Cypress Creek High School standout linebacker and 2019 winner Josh White.
