Frazier, Sheridan students place 1st, 2nd in Elementary Spelling Bee

Feb. 9, 2022—Frazier Elementary School fifth grade student Noah Nguyen won first place by correctly spelling the word invertebrate in the eighth round of the annual CFISD Elementary Spelling Bee, held Feb. 2 at the Berry Center.  

Sheridan Elementary School fifth grade student Psalm Molina was the runner-up. Both Nguyen and Molina will represent CFISD at the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee, scheduled for late March.

“All of our spellers did an outstanding job and should be extremely proud of themselves,” said Stephanie Fields, CFISD Elementary Spelling Bee co-coordinator. “The amount of time and effort each of the students spent preparing for the district spelling bee was evident in their performance.”

Gaye Stuchly, CFISD Elementary Spelling Bee co-coordinator added: “Our students should be recognized for going above and beyond their everyday learning in order to strive for excellence.”

The top two spellers from the regional bee will qualify for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Md., May 29-June 3.
