CFISD names new principal for Wilson Elementary School

Wilson Elementary principal: Kia Willis

Jan. 9, 2023Kia Willis, assistant principal at Andre’ Elementary School, was named the new principal at Wilson Elementary School on Jan. 9. Willis replaces Tamera Felder, who was named the principal at Hancock Elementary School on Nov. 17.  

Willis has 22 years of experience in education, serving in private, charter and public schools. She started in CFISD at Birkes Elementary School in 2012 as a third grade teacher before becoming a special education teacher in 2013 and served in that role until 2017. Willis then moved to Wilson serving as a reading and language arts instructional specialist until being named an assistant principal at Warner Elementary School in 2018. In 2019, Willis moved to Andre’ as an assistant principal.

She also has served as a summer school principal at Holmsley Elementary School and has participated in the CFISD Aspiring Principal Institute and the Assistant Principal Leadership Academy. 

Willis earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University and her Master in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She also earned her Educational Leadership/Principal Certification from Lamar University.

“I am truly blessed and honored to be selected to serve as the principal of Wilson Elementary School,” Willis said. “I look forward to returning to Wilson and continuing the traditions of excellence and kindness. I’m excited to reconnect with the staff and community as we partner together for student success.”
