Jan. 17, 2018—Adam Elementary School (11303 Honey Grove Lane) was one of four CFISD campuses to receive major renovations and additions completed for the 2017-2018 school year thanks to a $1.2 billion bond voted for in 2014.

The construction project by Prime Contractors began in August 2015, with the renovation contract costing $14.5 million.

“Our parents comment on the building daily,” said Beth May, Adam principal. “They are so excited that their children get to come to school in a beautiful new building.”

The project added new classrooms, an administration area and kitchen area to the school, which was built in 1972. It also included the construction of a detention pond and jogging track.

A noted hit among the renovations is the new flex space, which gives students and school staff places on campus to congregate, work together and hold events.

“Our renovation has been amazing for our community,” May said. “We love the huge entry and flex spaces. There are kids in the flex areas daily, especially during our Power Hour. Those areas allow our kids a space to collaborate and learn together.

“The science labs allow our kids more opportunities for experiments and hands-on learning. We have had several presentations there, and the flexible walls allow us to put a grade level together very easily.”
